Ca’ Foscari is a public university, founded on 6 August 1868 as Scuola Superiore di Commercio. It has reached a high national and international standing with the quality of its research and teaching, which reaches across countries and disciplines. Its university community includes over 21.000 students and 1.500 faculty and staff members from all over the world. The main campus is in a large Gothic palace in the heart of Venice, overlooking the Grand Canal, and other venues are spread across the historic centre of Venice, plus Mestre and Treviso. It is part of EUTOPIA, an alliance of ten European universities, and its Alumni community counts over 90.000 contacts worldwide.
According to the QS World University Rankings, Ca’ Foscari is in the top 3% of the world’s higher education institutions. In the QS European Ranking, it is ranked as the fifth university in Europe and the second in Italy for outgoing student mobility.
